The Nobutaka line is a branch of the famous "Owari San-saku" consisting of shodai Masatsune, Ujifusa and Nobutaka smiths. The Nobutaka school began in 1596 (Keicho) with Nobutaka shodai (1st generation). The Nobutaka line became in high demand starting with shodai in the quickly expanding Owari province due to the Owari Tokugawa and the demands of the Tokugawa Kenjutsi instructor, Yagyu Renyasai Shigekane. With the start of the Meiji restoration the Nobutaka line ended in 1868 (Keicho) with Nobutaka judai (10th generation) and his student Nobumasa (信正).  *See genealogy chart following.
